(Abstract) Eye on the World

A few of you may have seen my new blog on my Blogger profile but for those who haven't, it's called '(Abstract) Eye on the World' and it's about anything that I feel I need to talk about. Basically it's your average everyday blog.

Why did I do this? Well, you see I love this blog and making movies, but I've always been so strict when deciding what topics I write about. So I hope that this new blog will give me more freedom in what I can write in it.

Obviously this blog will still be updated, in fact, nothing has changed. Except now I have a place to blog about whatever I want, and keep this website focused on my movies. So please, show your appreciation by checking out this website and don't forget to follow/subscribe! (If you missed the link, it's right at the top of the article!)

FB Like Buttons

Just as a quick note, we now have Facebook like buttons at the top of each post, so if you like a particular post of this blog, don't be afraid to 'Like' it! It's a wonderful system and every time you like an article, I get a tiny bit of publicity for my blog, so everyone's happy!

Completely Random Post (Or is it…)

Well, I bet you never saw this coming, what with my pedantic nature and hatred of random space-filler posts, but I do actually have a reason. I really need to stop mentioning Twitter but it is Twitter related, not my Twitter account but The Cannon of Clips’ Twitter account. You see, whenever I post to this blog or someone posts to the Cannon of Clips Crew blog; a service called TwitterFeed is supposed to tell the Cannon of Clips’ Twitter account to post a link to the new post. Unfortunately it takes hours until each post is finally posted and sometimes it doesn’t post at all. So this post is to see if TwitterFeed can really be trusted with the Twitter/blog posting job. (Or whatever you prefer to call it.)

Actually, there are a few more small things I want to say before I end this post:

  • The Bodens ‘Behind the Dream’ series is finished, you can get a link to their YouTube page here! (I appear in parts 1, 2 and 8)
  • A new, upcoming little website/blog has just come out of the internet processing bin, it’s called and it was made by my good friend Calum Knott, (See if you can see him in the Behind the Dream videos) I’m not sure exactly what the website is going to be about but I’m waiting for great things from it, so the more people that are watching it, the more pressured he’ll be to work on it!
  • More advertising, this time we’ll be staying right here in the ‘Blogspot’ domain with a blog created by an old friend I was happy to be reunited with at Midsummer, but not an actor this time. This photography based blog was created by a volunteer photographer, (At least I hope it was volunteered or all us actors have just been screwed!) Heather McCutcheon with a blog called ‘We're all Mad Here...’! (But who is madder, me or Heather?)
  • Please ‘Like’ The Cannon of Clips on Facebook! Just click the button in the sidebar! (This is why I hate the new page ‘Like’ buttons, they make me sound desperate. E.g. “Please like me!”)

Back to Work, Mr. Pichelski!

The Easter holidays have officially ended for me and tomorrow I'm back off to school to continue my life. By the way, Midsummer Night's dream went really well, (I'm hanging up one of the leaflets on my wardrobe to remember it by) they even gave me a small blog on their website to personally track the last couple of weeks, (It's just about gone now though) truly it has been an unforgettable experience and I hope to work at Bodens in the future. Oh, very quickly before moving on; in case you don't follow me on Twitter (I really need to stop advertising my Twitter account) here's a picture of the costume I wore:

Anyway, moving on to my projects: now that I've got some time I can get back to working on my own videos, hopefully now that I've made some friends at Bodens, perhaps some of them will have that time to help me. Now that I think about it, I bet the only reason I have trouble finding people is because of time, no-one around my age has any time, what with GCSEs or A levels or whatever they are legally required to do...

*Sigh* I guess I'll just have to hope for the best...

A New Coat of Web-based Paint

Only this week did Blogger announce the BETA for customisable themes and I have jumped on that boat right away! The previous theme was one of the built-in themes at the time, but for someone with no coding skill whatsoever, that was pretty much the only option.

But now with news of the customisable themes, I think that this a good chance to try something new and really make this website original. I can't add the TCOC logo into the background yet so it's not 100% permanent, I may tweak the layout as the feature progresses, but for now, enjoy the slightly more original 'Julian's Movie List'

Bodens' Midsummer Night's Dream

If you follow me on Twitter, (Yeah, you can know a lot about me from my Twitter, perhaps I'm hinting at something there (It's TCOCJulian by the way)) that I have been involved in a production of Midsummer Night's Dream for Bodens Studios. I would have posted about this a LOT earlier, except I was waiting for the first behind the scenes episode to be released on YouTube and it's only just been uploaded. If you know the story of Midsummer Night's dream then you'll understand the scenes being improvised here, if not, then watch the video anyway, it's really quite funny Our Director (Anna Sternberg) has been really amazing to set up the rehearsal process like this. So, better late then never, try to look out for me and here it is, Bodens' 'Behind the Dream:

First, let me start by saying happy Mother's Day to everyone out there!

Now to business. Things have been hard here at TCOC, very hard. I've had a spike in my GCSE work and on top of that, I've still got no team. I'm not really the sort of person to post a blog post just to tell people that I'm still alive, I prefer to wait until I actually have something to post about. But right now; I don't...

The point is that I am working on a new script, (I'm hoping for something slightly less story orientated and more zany!) and once the school work dies down for a bit I'll be able to finish it and use it to lure some of my acting friends...

So please, be patient, relax, It's not like there's nothing else to do on the internet. I can assure you that the videos are not a lie! (On a side note: Yes, I'm currently very excited about Portal 2 coming out near the end of this year!)

The Sunday Knights

Holy smeg, it was been an exhausting half-term! What with the entire studio 'staff' disbanding and leaving me on my own, plus the giant balancing bomb act that is my GCSEs, I've hardly had time to work on anything. (Yeah, that's my excuse for everything, I know)

But anyway, down to business! As you may know that I support independent film-makers and I'm over the moon when someone I know starts to make good, hard, proper stuff for the internet. (Even if they're stuff is better then my stuff) You may remember 'I WANNA BE ADORED' last December; made by my very own Uncle.

Well, this time I was approached by a teaching assistant in my school; who I know as Mr. Sawyer who said that he was planning on making a film called 'The Sunday Knights'. Now, the trailer is finally up on YouTube and so, as I promised, here it is, direct in everyone's favourite embedded player, The Sunday Knights!

(In case anyone is wondering, Mr. Sawyer is one of the two guys on the sofa, on the right)

Where are They Now?

You may be wondering: "If most of TCOC is gone, then what will become of James the Slayer?" Well, unfortunately JTS2 was Dane's idea and so that leaves with him, but don't worry, because if you still want to wait for it, then all you have to do is go to a new YouTube page that is ran by the very actors that quit TCOC. (Yeah, I know that means it looks like they are spitefully running against me, but really we are all still friends and I like the competition.)

So, if you want you can go their new YouTube channel, entitled 'The Insects of Death' (Notice how they also use the 'The ____ Of ____' Format?) I wish them the very best of luck and hope to see some great videos for them in the future.

Our New Facebook Home!

(Yes, I know I said that the next update would be on Thursday but I just couldn't wait!)

Up until now we used a Facebook group to keep tabs on all our TCOC stuff on Facebook, mainly because we were worried that if we made a page, Facebook would delete it because of the low popularity of TCOC in general.

However, because of the recent flood of completely useless and random Facebook Pages, I figure that they simply can't delete it. (Unless they suddenly hammer down on the rules to Facebook Pages)

So please join us and get all updates straight from your news feed!

Change... Big Change...

TCOC has been on YouTube for quite a while now, although we have yet to actually make a dent in the YouTube world, we have tried to put together some good movies, but in the end, it was a hobby and we had fun making what little we could so I guess we have accomplished something and for that I am truly grateful.

However, unfortunately all good things must come to an end. We haven't been able to do much work on JTS2 or anything else recently and everyone wants to go their own way. And when TCOC was pulled in five different directions at once, it became a stressful chore that we just couldn't complete. And therefore, after a lot of argument, we had to say that enough was enough. So we concluded that...

Anil, Dane, Cetin and Paul have left TCOC

Yes! That's right, it is unfortunate but it had to be done. Fortunately, I invented the name 'The Cannon of Clips' when I was about 8 years old, true it was just a name that I put on the end of our family's holiday movies but it was still mine and over time it became a part of me. So no, TCOC will still live and I will still run it.

But how can I run it alone? Well, for now, I'm not 100% sure although I do have a few ideas of some good people who might be interested. So for now, just please sit tight, TCOC is changing, but I think this is a whole new beginning for it...

A Decent Logo has been Created!

If you follow my own or our general CannonOfClips Twitter pages, you might have read that me and Dane have been working on s new logo for The Cannon of Clips and I am happy to say that it is now complete! And for the first time, here it is, the new face of TCOC:

Yes, indeed it does look a lot better then our current one (seen below) but pretty soon you'll start seeing this new logo around all of the small pieces of the internet that TCOC holds, so keep your eyes peeled for it.

Anyway, as I was saying, it's a lot better then the old logo:

Yeah, I know, admittedly I made that logo entirely on Photoshop quite a while ago, I needed something to represent TCOC and so I just drew whatever I felt like, it was fine then but now is the future and so we are looking at a newly logo'd Cannon of Clips!
